We are at an exciting time in the journey of the Hovercraft Museum.
A grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund has given us funding to enable the Museum to deliver our project – First steps in securing the future of the Hovercraft Museum. This project is an important step for the Museum providing support to help us to deliver our vision to provide a world-class museum telling the ongoing story of the Hovercraft in a way that captivates, inspires, and educates people. The Heritage Fund grant enables us the opportunity to offer consultancy contracts to support this aim:
Project Manager
Role: Project Manager
Location: Home-based, with travel and work in Gosport as required.
Fee: Fixed price of £30,000 (including VAT)
Status: Freelance supplier
Reporting to: Hovercraft Museum CIO Board
Contract: July 2025 to June 2026
We are looking for an experienced project manager who has excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of negotiation, in particular with commercial leases and/ or developers. You will have the ability to work with a volunteer Board to develop a Business Plan, Fundraising Strategy and a development phase application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund. You will be willing to work with and collaborate with other consultants, specialists and experts on the project.

Role: Condition Survey and Master Plan
Location: Travel and work in Gosport as required.
Fee: Responses to the tender in the region of £45,000, excluding VAT
Reporting to: Project Manager
Contract: July 2025 to October 2025
We are seeking a suitably qualified Conservation Architect who is experienced in providing services to similar multifaceted projects. The scope of this work is to carry out three interconnected pieces of work:
- condition surveys of the hovercraft
- condition survey of buildings
- a Museum Masterplan.
The Conservation Architect will be required to liaise and work with other the other project consultants, and to work closely with the volunteer Board.
