ALUM BAY CHARTERS 2001

The Hovercraft Museum Trust is pleased to announce that it will again be running the popular Alum Bay charters this year. Both charters will originate from the Hovertravel terminal at Southsea (if there are any passengers from the Isle of Wight they may have free travel on the craft from Ryde to Southsea). The craft will then call at Lee-on-Solent slipway to pick up passengers en-route to Alum Bay.

At Alum Bay, passengers can choose to venture up the cliffs on the chair lift, priced at the group rate, (or stairs) and sample a cream tea in one of the establishments at the top. There are also many gift and souvenir shops selling all sorts of curiosities as well as the famous coloured sands from the area. There is also a glass works where visitors can watch items being made and a small funfair for children. Alternatively, bring your rug and picnic basket and just enjoy the lovely sandy beach...

An approximate timetable of the schedule follows. We hope we will be able to stay for 2 hours at Alum Bay, which is a little longer than last year.

Tickets (in advance only - not available on the day) are available from the address at the bottom of the page at the following prices:

Adults: £20.00      Children: £15.00
Family Ticket (2 Adults, 1 Child): £50.00
Family Ticket (2 Adults, 2 Children): £60.00

Please send us your details together with an appropriate cheque made payable to 'The Hovercraft Museum Trust'
We can also accept credit card bookings, but a fee of 50p will have to be added to cover the bank charges. Please write, fax or phone your credit card number, expiry date and registered name and address and details of tickets required. Please remember to state which of the two dates you require tickets for. We will then send out your tickets by return.
(Note that your credit card statement will read the charge as coming from 'West Star')
